ATOMISED SOCIETY
CURATED BY MARTIN RASMUSSEN

A.S. – Atomised Society

"Memories are passed through unknown dimensions and are no longer something of the past. Rather, they become redefined equivalents in the present. In this way, memories are restructured like dreams, or, in a more concrete way, like collages. Remembered pleasures can become pain, or painful occurrences can become pleasurable." (Dwoskin, Stephen, 1993, HAHA! La Solution Imaginaire published by The Smith, p.x introduction)

For their edition of Apartment, A.S. – Atomised Society, (Alexander Hidalgo and Monika Oechsler), present a new series of collages in various media.

A.S.' interventions are particularly performative and, be it in a park, publication or flat, highlight positions of humanity. This specific intervention for Apartment seems to reflect an interest in memory and its visual operations.

The collaboration's work puts forward how memory, more than in the past, plays the part of creating the present.
"The only conclusion he could draw was that without points of reference, a man melts away." ― (Michel Houellebecq, The Elementary Particles).

RACHEL JAMES - LAUNCH A/W 2015

RACHEL JAMES

MENSWEAR

GRANNY FLOWER

LAUNCH COLLECTION A/W 2015

Had the pleasure of consulting on the launch of Rachel James Menswear after her successful Westminster University Fashion Degree.

A relaxed fit for men with an interesting and radiant use of print and textured knitwear.

Basic men's fashion items, transformed through clever usage of cut, creating surprising volume and fit. The line of the clothing, while always relaxed and masculine, sometimes reminded me of Cristobal Balenciaga.

Here items from the collection are modeled by Gabriele Ambrosi de Magistris Verzier.

CHOCOLATE FACTORY - PAUL McCARTHY - MONNAIE DE PARIS

CHOCOLATE FACTORY

 -  PAUL McCARTHY -

MONNAIE DE PARIS

(25 OCTOBER 2014 - 4 JANUARY 2015)

The performers run the Chocolate Factory and stock the chocolate figurines produced. Our consumer society's system of values is echoed and contrasted.
The Monnaie de Paris location stresses this idea. A building where medals and coins were minted.
We are presented with a parallel activity.

Art, chocolate, butt plugs, and Christmas.
The 'excess' of energy invested in these symbols is destined to be wasted.

The luxury and erotics presented reminds us of Georges Bataille's 'general' economy. The 'excess' is given in order to threaten, to make apparent, a system of values that refuses the idea that commodities could be surrendered without return.
