LES PARIS-FOLLIES de LA COUPOLE par LA BARONNE DE PANAME

LES PARIS-FOLLIES de LA COUPOLE

par LA BARONNE DE PANAME

On Friday 24th of October I was lucky enough to attend an amazing evening in Paris. "Les Paris-Follies de La Coupole" unites many people from all over Paris and beyond who enjoy the music, styles and feeling of the past century. Also all those who enjoy the opportunity to experiment with dress and stylishness.

La Baronne de Paname, organiser of this event and of 'Carnet des Bal' fame, danced with Laurent Kaus during the event amongst many others.

A group of revellers photographed outside La Coupole, cooling down from all the dancing.

Laurent Kaus with Martin Rasmussen enjoying the many wonderful sights, dancing techniques and dress styles which span from the 1930's to the 1950's. But all are welcome!

La Baronne de Paname poses with friends in this very open, relaxed and eclectic event. As first time visitors we felt totally welcome by an incredibly warm, receptive and fun loving group of people.

A GREAT experience recommended to all!

AN EVENING OF PERFORMANCES - DRAF

AN EVENING OF PERFORMANCES

DAVID ROBERTS ART FOUNDATION

16th October 2014

Artists, musicians and choreographers present works at DRAF's annual performance platform.

This year the selection included Quinn Latimer & Megan Rooney, Joe Moran, Sarah Lucas and Eloise Hawser who ended the event with an immersing sound work which everyone experienced as they left the space.

Joe Moran's performance was created between dance and performative action.
A group of men struggled  against each other while simultaneously holding each other
forming a kind of scrum.

It managed to be sporty, masculine, violent, controlled and somewhat erotic.

Sarah Lucas performed frying an egg, one of her 'seminal' materials, and was assisted by Pauline Daily from 'Sadie Coles HQ'.

Martin Rasmussen from 'Vilma Gold Gallery' with Vincent Honore, the Director of 'DRAF', who is wearing a Sarah Lucas fried egg.

Planningtorock performed many hits and new tracks. This was a rare opportunity for her fans to see her in London and proved an interesting mix alongside the other events.

DRAF curated this event with an eclectic, provocative angle that proved exciting and enjoyable and which made us remember the complexities of cultural production.

A good counterpoint to FRIEZE Art Fair which was also taking place at that time.

The evening finished with a private party and dj set by Planningtorock.
A fantastic experience where the dancing started during her performance continued!

GERTRUDE JEKYLL GARDEN,LINDISFARNE CASTLE .

GERTRUDE JEKYLL GARDEN,

LINDISFARNE CASTLE

LINDISFARNE, NORTHUMBERLAND, ENGLAND

This is my favourite garden in England!

Not that I've visited them all but I have that strange supernatural feeling that this is it!

It is discreet and appears as a splash of colour in the distance. A visual disturbance to the green yet bleak landscape of Lindisfarne.

Although seeming wild it is meticulously laid out. It was created by Gertrude Jekyll (1843-1932) in 1906 and planted in 1911.

A combination of vegetables, annuals and perennials. It continues its first use as a vegetable garden, originally supplying the castle but developed by Jekyll as a point of interest in the landscape.

Sir Edward Lutyens (1869-1944), a friend and collaborator, renovated the castle and worked with Jekyll on the garden.

Rachel Ryvar of 'Garden Improvements' (rachelryvar.co.uk), seen above with Martin Rasmussen, introduced us to the garden and its earthly delights.

The staff of the 'National Trust' keep this garden beautiful and beautifully looked after. We thank them with great gratitude for performing all the duties that allow this space to be a possibility. We left recharged and regenerated and with a greatly improved and positive outlook.
